Job summary

A defence engineering firm is seeking a System Design Engineer in Redhill to work on secure maritime projects. You will produce high-quality electrical and mechanical drawings and collaborate with engineering teams, ensuring compliance with regulations. The ideal candidate will have at least five years of electrical/systems design experience and proficiency in CAD software. A competitive salary of up to £55,000 per annum is offered for this onsite role.

About the Role:

Produce high-quality electrical and mechanical drawings for secure government and maritime projects

Collaborate with engineering and project teams to develop design concepts and refine mechanical designs

Ensure compliance with EU directives and relevant technical standards in a regulated environment

Key Responsibilities:

Create 2D/3D CAD drawings, STEP files, and Visio diagrams to ISO standards

Apply knowledge of electrical safety, BS7671 wiring regulations, and manufacturing techniques for control panels and racks

Take ownership of projects, proactively solving problems and managing priorities under changing conditions

Minimum HND/HNC qualification or apprenticeship with five years' electrical/systems design experience

Proficient in CAD software, such as AutoCAD and preferably electrical CAD tools (SEE Electrical, ETAP)

Experience in producing compliant drawings within a regulated electrical engineering environment

Familiarity with BS8888 2017 and standards for EMC and LVD

Knowledge of electrical enclosure manufacturing and material properties

Ability to recommend CAD software solutions and contribute to continuous improvement
