Job summary

A global ICT recruitment consultancy is seeking a Systems and Security Engineer to work onsite in Edinburgh 2-3 days a week. The role requires 5 years of experience in Linux and Windows operating systems, as well as proficiency in C, Java, and Oracle Database. Responsibilities include installation of software patches and configuration of systems. This is an initial 6-month contract position offering competitive rates based on IR35 regulations.

Role: Systems and Security Engineer

Rate: Inside IR35

Location: 2-3 days a week onsite in Edinburgh

Duration: 6-month initial contract

Your Responsibilities:

1. Installation of operating system patches and other third-party software such as Oracle, NetApp, etc.
2. System configuration and hands-on experience with GitHub and ClearCase

Your Profile

Essential skills/knowledge/experience:

1. 5 years of experience with Linux and Windows operating systems
2. 5 years of experience with C, Java, and Oracle Database, SQL, shell scripting, with the ability to read and interpret logs and debug files
3. Experience in installing operating system patches and third-party software such as Oracle, NetApp, etc.
4. System configuration and hands-on experience with GitHub and ClearCase
5. Proficient in TRELLIX

Desirable skills/knowledge/experience:

1. Experience in applying fixes on live customer systems
2. Proven problem analysis, identification, and resolution skills
3. Strong troubleshooting and debugging skills
4. Good communication skills (verbal and written)
5. Proficiency in MS Office applications (Word, PowerPoint, Excel) and MS Outlook
