Responsibilities & Expectations:

South East Switchgear, an IPS company, is a world class leader in Power Distribution and Low Voltage Motor Control. For over 30 years we have been buying and selling New, New Surplus and Reconditioned industrial electrical equipment. In early 2023, Southland was acquired by Integrated Power Services.

  • South East Switchgear, an IPS Company, is seeking a dedicated Switchgear Technician. In this position you will be responsible for testing, repair, recondition and retrofitting services on switchgear to meet or exceed PEARL standards. This position requires a motivated, detail-oriented team member with the ability to learn quickly and work safely.
  • Test, repair, recondition and retrofit services on switchgear.
  • Meet or exceed PEARL standards.
  • Ability to work overtime. Mandatory overtime is required based on business need.
Qualifications and Competencies:
  • High School Diploma or equivalent.
  • Mechanical aptitude preferred.
  • Proper use of Personal Protection Equipment (PPE).
  • Ability to pass a respirator fit test and be trained on proper respirator protocol.
  • General understanding and firsthand experience with safe work environments.
  • Be able to read, interpret, and modify documents.
  • Must possess a valid driver’s license and maintain an excellent driving record.
  • Ability to possess the following certifications: PEARL Technician Certification, Forklift training, TSC Electrical Training Classes completed within one (1) year of hire date, MSHA Training, OSHA 10-30, In-house Training on individual machines in the shop.
Physical Requirements:
  • Ability to lift, push, pull, carry items up to 50 lbs. in weight.
  • Ability to stand, stoop, kneel, and bend for prolonged periods of time.
  • Ability to perform manual labor for up to 12 or more hours per day.
  • Acute hearing and strong field of vision.
  • Ability to work in demanding physical and inclement weather conditions.
