Job description

This is an exciting opportunity to join the Estates and Facilities team as a Switchboard Operator.

This role is mainly based at the Queens Medical Centre; however, you will be required to work at the City Hospital from time to time.

The position is an Annualised hours contract of 1134 hours.

We are looking for someone with a flexible approach to work who is motivated to assist the public and staff with their daily enquiries. Ideally, you will have previous Switchboard/call centre experience; however, all training will be provided.

The post holder must have proficiency in IT skills.

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Being the first point of contact for hospital inquiries from the general public and Trust staff.
  • Responding professionally and sympathetically to callers in need of support.
  • Managing emergency crash calls to the 22 22 emergency teams within the Trust via the Blick bleep system and the Everbridge messaging system.
  • Responding efficiently and actioning all on-call rota’s sent into the department.
  • Adhering to all Trust and in-house policies and procedures.

You will need to demonstrate excellent organizational skills, work well under pressure, and be a friendly, approachable team player.

Your key responsibilities include:

  • Answering up to 85-100 calls per hour.
  • Engaging with callers to resolve queries in one call if possible.
  • Responding to all email inquiries in the department inbox.
  • Answering all 2222 calls promptly.
  • Conducting daily lift testing.
  • Performing weekly fire alarm testing calls.
  • Daily testing of Blick bleep pagers.
  • Assisting with doctor changeovers twice yearly.
  • Handling on-call rota’s and dealing with calls accordingly.
  • Working as part of the team.
