Job description

An exciting opportunity has become available to work on the Switchboard at Castle Hill Hospital.

The post is to cover a rotational shift pattern on a full-time basis.

You will be required to work a shift pattern that includes early, evenings, nights, weekends, and bank holidays with unsocial hours enhancements (as per NHS employee terms and conditions). Flexibility is key as the team operates 365 days a year, 24 hours a day.

Salary: £24,169 per annum (plus unsocial hours enhanced pay). Access to salary sacrifice vehicle lease scheme and other staff benefits.

We are seeking a dependable and motivated individual with excellent communication skills who works well under pressure. You will require a confident telephone manner and proven customer service skills.

The switchboard service is essential to the smooth running of our hospitals at Castle Hill Hospital and Hull Royal Infirmary, one of 27 Major Trauma Centres in England.

You will be responsible for handling calls professionally, enabling patients and colleagues to reach the correct contacts. You will respond effectively to emergency calls, alarm activations, and incidents in a calm and professional manner.

Additional training will be provided on the Portering and non-patient transport desk, which also operates from the switchboard area.

The Humber Health Partnership is one of the largest NHS partnerships, serving over one million patients annually and managing a budget of over £1.3 billion. It comprises two Trusts: Northern Lincolnshire and Goole NHS Foundation Trust (NLAG) and Hull University Teaching Hospitals NHS Trust (HUTH).

Our partnership is committed to delivering world-class hospital and community services for the 1.65 million people we serve. We employ nearly 20,000 staff across five main hospital sites, including Diana Princess of Wales Hospital, Scunthorpe General Hospital, Goole and District Hospital, Hull Royal Infirmary, and Castle Hill Hospital.

As teaching hospitals collaborating with the Hull York Medical School, we lead and contribute to research across various fields including biomedical research, primary care, palliative medicine, cardiovascular and respiratory medicine, vascular surgery, cancer surgery, and oncology.

We believe that developing a diverse, inclusive, innovative, skilled, and caring workforce enables us to provide excellent patient care and fosters a great future for our employees, partnership, and community.
