Job summary

Lancing College Swim School is seeking dedicated Swimming Teachers to join our team. You will deliver lessons to students across ages and abilities, following the National Swim England curriculum, and maintain a safe, supportive learning environment.

Safeguarding is of utmost importance and professional conduct is required. Salary is £20.83 per hour on a zero-hour contract, with teaching cover most needed during Tue 3.45pm–6.30pm, Thu 3.45pm–6.00pm, and Sat 8.00am–12.30pm.

Qualifications

• Must hold valid Swimming Teacher qualification recognised by Swim England or the STA.
• Experience delivering swimming lessons to students of varying ages and abilities.
• Strong understanding of the Swim England curriculum and teaching methodologies.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to motivate learners.
• Commitment to safeguarding and child protection policies.
• Lifeguard qualification would be advantageous.

Responsibilities

• Deliver swimming lessons in accordance with the National Swim England curriculum, ensuring progression and skill development.
• Create engaging, age-appropriate lesson plans for each student.
• Maintain a safe learning environment and adhere to safeguarding policies.
• Conduct regular assessments and provide constructive feedback on progress.
• Issue swimming badges and certificates.
• Collaborate with Swim School Manager and Pool Manager to coordinate teaching activities.
• Attend staff meetings and ongoing training to enhance teaching skills.
• Build positive relationships with students, parents and colleagues to foster a welcoming atmosphere.
• Set up before lessons and ensure equipment safety; report any defects to duty officer.
