Job description

GLL is currently looking for swimming teachers based at Waddon Leisure Centre in Croydon. Join us as a swimming teacher and play a key role in developing our customers' swimming skills. This is your chance to deliver safe, consistent swimming lessons that give people confidence in the water and teach an invaluable life skill.

As an experienced swimming teacher, you’ll support people to achieve their potential by considering their individual needs. You’ll draw on your knowledge of practices, progression, and teaching points, applying them effectively. Most of your time will be spent teaching people to become stronger swimmers, whether in groups or one-to-one, and from children to adults.

We’re looking for swimming teachers who are approachable, friendly, and patient, with the ability to build trust, motivate pupils, and encourage them with praise. You need to be STA Award or Certificate level or Swim England Level 2 qualified, and ideally hold the National Rescue Award for Swimming Teachers & Coaches. Knowledge of health, safety, relevant legislation, and Child Protection Policy is essential.

What you will do:

1. Maintain a positive image of the Centre by providing a welcoming, helpful, and professional poolside service.
2. Ensure compliance with the ‘Customer Charter’ standards.
3. Ensure the safety and control of pupils during lessons and enforce relevant regulations.
4. Encourage pupils to enroll in further and short courses.
5. Assist with new enrollments and re-enrollments as required.
6. Follow Safeguarding, Behaviour, and Child Protection policies.
7. Record and complete relevant awards to meet standards.
8. Teach according to the product manual to ensure consistency across centres.
