Job description

GLL is currently looking for swimming teachers based in Cornwall. Join us as a swimming teacher and play a key role in developing our customers' swimming skills. This is your chance to deliver safe, consistent swimming lessons that give people confidence in the water – an invaluable life skill.

As an experienced swimming teacher, you’ll support people to achieve their potential, taking into account their individual needs. You’ll draw on your knowledge of practices, progression, and teaching points, applying them effectively. While some administration is involved, most of your time will be dedicated to teaching, whether in groups or one-to-one, to children and adults.

We’re looking for approachable swimming teachers with a friendly, patient nature who can build trust, motivate pupils, and encourage progress. You’ll need to be STA Award or Certificate level or Swim England Level 2 qualified, and ideally hold the National Rescue Award for Swimming Teachers & Coaches. Knowledge of health, safety, relevant legislation, and Child Protection Policy is essential.

What you will do:

1. Maintain a positive image of the Centre by providing a welcoming, helpful, and professional poolside service.
2. Comply with the ‘Customer Charter’ standards.
3. Ensure the safety and control of pupils during lessons and enforce relevant regulations.
4. Encourage pupils to enroll in further courses.
5. Assist with new and re-enrollments as required.
6. Follow the Safeguarding Policy & Behaviour Policy.
7. Record and complete relevant awards to ensure standards are met.
8. Teach according to the standards set within the product manual for consistency across centres.
