Are you passionate about swimming? Here at Birmingham Leisure Trust, our goal is to encourage active, healthy lifestyles in an environment that is safe, warm, clean, friendly, and fun. We are looking to recruit a Swimming Instructor to join our team.

By following the Swim England learn to swim framework, we develop the confidence in all of our swimmers through fun and enjoyable lessons. Many of our swimmers have progressed to swim competitively and even to represent our country.

Teaching our children swimming lessons will see you delivering safe, fun, and progressive lessons, while we also take a similar approach towards our teachers' careers and personal development. We want you to feel secure in your employment, offering you the flexibility to teach as many hours as you wish around your current commitments.

We cover the costs of your safeguarding and DBS checks, and you won't need personal insurance as you will be covered by ours. Working for us allows you to work within all our leisure centres and provides excellent personal and career development through continued training and learning opportunities.

Our in-house Aquatic Training Academy will provide you with ongoing training through our specialist CPDs in swimming teaching, and we have a clear pathway for career progression into management or other areas in the business.

What you’ll need to do the role:

You’ll have excellent customer service skills and be someone who is happy to deal with people of all ages and backgrounds. You will need to hold either a STA Award/Certificate in Teaching Swimming or Swim England (Previously ASA) Level 2. Holding either a valid RLSS UK NPLQ, RLSS UK NRASTC, or STA Safety Award for Teachers would be an advantage, although we do offer these courses for anyone who doesn't hold them. This role will require a DBS check.

As one of our teachers, you will be at the forefront of helping people develop vital swimming skills, making them healthier and happier. Our swimming teachers are integral to the running of our centres, providing opportunities to progress into aquatics coordination or other centre management roles in one of our 55 facilities.

Teaching can lead to a great sense of accomplishment as you watch people progress and work with your local community. We will support you with ongoing training and development.
