Active Leicester, part of Leicester City Council, seeks a Swim Teacher to deliver engaging swimming lessons across multiple leisure centres in Leicester. Roles include daytime, evenings and weekends with term-time and 50-week contract options.
You’ll be responsible for teaching, attendance tracking and safety compliance across centres, supporting a welcoming environment. Qualifications include STA/Swim England Level 1/2, with strong communication skills and experience teaching diverse groups.

Active Leicester operates swimming lessons at seven leisure centres within the city: Aylestone, Braunstone, Cossington Street, Evington, Leicester Leys, New Parks and Spence Street.
When employed as a Swim Teacher, you’ll have the opportunity to work set hours on a permanent basis at any of our leisure centres. Hours of work may include daytime, evenings, and weekends and are open to discussion at interview.
To apply for a term-time school swimming contracts, you must be available Monday to Friday between 9am-3pm. Hours of work can flex termly dependent on school bookings, so flexibility is required.
To apply for a 50-week contract for the core programme, you must be able to commit to 2 days of work. Lessons typically start at 4pm Monday to Friday, and 8 or 9am on the weekend. Shifts can range from 2-4 hours.
You’ll work closely with the leisure centre teams to deliver swimming lessons to Active Leicester customers, ensuring you create a safe and welcoming environment.
You’ll teach a programme of instructed sessions, record weekly attendance and progression for each swimmer and comply with all training, safeguarding, health & safety and operational requirements. Using your expertise, you’ll provide feedback and direction to service users, promoting a quality experience for all.
