Job summary

The Perse School Cambridge is seeking a friendly Swim Helper to support the Swim Teacher in delivering high quality swimming lessons. You will assist learners in the water, help with confidence building and basic techniques, and contribute to a safe, engaging learning environment.

You will work as part of a team, ensure the area is well prepared, and uphold safeguarding policies while maintaining a professional appearance during lessons.

Qualifications

• Provide safe and effective assistance to swimming lessons under the guidance of a Swimming Teacher.
• Ensure learners' safety and maintain a welcoming class atmosphere.
• Support learners with confidence building, floating and basic swimming techniques.

Responsibilities

• Provide safe and effective assistance to swimming lessons in line with guidance from a Swimming Teacher.
• Carry out instructions from Swimming Teachers safely and accurately.
• Maintain high standards within the swim school at all times.
• Create a welcoming, pleasant class atmosphere for all pupils.
• Interact with children in a friendly and positive manner.
• Assist Swim Teachers by organising learners, relaying instructions clearly, and keeping them focused.
• Help learners in the water with confidence building, floating and basic techniques.
• Set up and tidy away equipment before and after lessons.
• Follow safety protocols and emergency procedures, safeguarding policies.
• Adhere to uniform expectations and present yourself well at all times.
• Promote and safeguard the welfare of children and young persons you contact.
