Job summary

Powys County Council is seeking an experienced leader to coordinate its Sustainable Travel and Road Safety programmes across Powys. You will act as deputy to the manager, overseeing day-to-day operations and directing the Road Safety Team to deliver on council priorities.

You will drive transport planning, behaviour-change initiatives and strategic partnerships, ensuring compliance with funding obligations and high standards of stakeholder engagement.

Qualifications

• Strong understanding of sustainable travel, active travel and road safety.
• Experience managing people, projects and partnerships.
• Ability to provide operational leadership while supporting strategic direction.
• Excellent communication, organisation and leadership skills.

Responsibilities

• Lead the operational delivery of sustainable travel and road safety programmes across Powys.
• Manage the Road Safety Team and oversee grant-funded projects.
• Act as deputy manager for the service during absences.
• Coordinate with Welsh Government, Transport for Wales, schools and partners to deliver priorities.
