Job description

Company Description

Thomas Kneale & Co Limited, established in 1947, supplies high-quality bed and

bath linens to public sector organizations including police, ambulance

services, fire and rescue, and private accommodation providers. Our products

comply with British and European Standards and are designed for durability and

commercial use. We hold BS EN ISO 9001: 2015 accreditation for quality

assurance. Our rigorous Corporate Social and Ethical policies ensures strict

protocols throughout our supply chain. We are employee owned which means we

share part of our profits amongst the team. We recruit people who are looking

for long term, secure employment, not for 'job hoppers' in an environment where

mutual result and supporting of each other is the norm. We are around 20 people

in number, so the team is small enough to be personal and where everyone knows

each other.

Role Description

This is a full-time (remote working up to 2 days per week after first few months on boarding) for a Sustainability Specialist based in Ancoats, a 5 minute walk from Manchester Piccadilly Station. Full training provided, so would suit a recent graduate, or an individual with general experience, not necessarily in the sustainability field. The role is to maintain and develop the following established workstreams.

ISO 9001

ISO 14001

EcoVadis

Annual carbon calculation

Carbon reduction report

Social value

Supplier activity certificates and sustainability credentials

Impact report

Test report folder- for flammability and other product testing

Other portals- Alcumus, NetPositive, Integrity Next- these are all ‘light touch'

Customer data requests- This is increasing over time and will continue to do so as more of our customers delve into their data. These can be fairly quick or in depth.

Development beyond sustainability-

After the first 12-18 months, it is expected that the individual will have capacity to

take a wider remit on. As a small company, this is the natural progression that

colleagues gain. This could be anything from account management, new sales

generation, project management/support.

Qualifications

While no specific qualifications are required, we are looking for an individual who

is a good communicator, able to work closely with other departments, is able to

use their own initiative, is organised, and does not need to be micro-managed.
