Role OverviewWe are looking for a
Sustainability Specialist to join our dedicated Property Services department. This role will be responsible for developing and delivering the A2D corporate Climate Resilience Strategy across the Group, representing and leading on all areas of sustainability, including utility services and decentralised energy centres.
Key responsibilities:- To lead on the corporate Climate Resilience Strategy (CRS) for A2Dominion and ensure that actions, management reporting and delivery of the strategy. To present back to board, EMT and working groups on the success of the strategy and any improvements required
- Be responsible for developing and implementing the organisation's long term sustainability plan strategy, developing our approach to meeting the target of all A2D housing stock being at EPC C or better by 2030 and develop a roadmap that will enable A2D to be carbon net zero by 2050
- To have strategic line of sight of the decarbonisation of existing homes policy delivery to ensure that the affordable housing stock is meeting the objectives set out within the CRS
- Create a long-term energy business plan with opportunities to widen the scope of energy provision to both our customers and other organisations
- Preparation of appraisals and business cases in support of the Asset Management Strategy, Carbon Reduction and Energy Efficiency proposals
- To provide strategic insight into (new) builds and develop process for obtaining input from consultants and contractors in relation to Energy
- Develop and maintain data collection, monitor, assess and report on energy efficiency and financial performance of energy sales and all regulatory changes
- Develop and deliver considered projects to meet regulation, improve residents' homes and reduce carbon emissions and resource use across A2Dominion
- Develop and implement a robust EPC C programme and ensure that the voids process is fit for purpose from a sustainability perspective and ready for the 2030 deadline
- Monitor and report on the association's sustainability performance, including energy usage, waste diversion rates and carbon emissions, ensuring data is captured, stored and accessible to inform decision making and investment
- Foster positive relationships with local communities, local authorities and stakeholders to ensure sustainable development practices. Develop and implement community outreach programs to promote sustainability awareness and education
- Identify opportunities for resource efficiency and cost savings within social housing projects. Implement measures to optimize resource usage, such as water and energy conservation
More about you- Educated to degree level or equivalent and / or professionally qualified in a management or building, carbon reduction or renewable energy related discipline and / or the ability to demonstrate relevant experience
- Experience in a similar role and experience in sustainability roles, with a focus on social housing or related sectors
- Proven track record of successfully implementing sustainability initiatives
- Demonstrated ability to adapt to evolving sustainability trends and integrate new technologies and practices
- Deep understanding of sustainability principles, environmental regulations, and green building standards
- Proven ability to provide strategic leadership and vision in the development and execution of sustainability initiatives
- Excellent IT skills including databases and Microsoft packages with the ability to analyse data, identifying risks, and producing reports from a number of systems
- Full UK driving licenses and access to a car (desirable)
- MCIOB, RICS or equivalent professional membership (desirable)
