Job summary

British American Tobacco is offering an undergraduate internship in Southampton within the New Category R&D Sustainability team. This 12-month placement focuses on the environmental impacts of new category products and supports life cycle analysis, Eco Design, and circularity initiatives to help achieve our 2030 targets.

You will work on developing our sustainable materials database in collaboration with Design and Materials Engineering, mentored by senior researchers.

Qualifications

• Pursuing an undergraduate degree in Sustainability, Chemistry, Biology, Materials or Environmental Sciences.
• Environmental and sustainability knowledge.
• Accurate data analysis and attention to detail.
• Excellent presentation skills.
• Collaborative attitude and ability to communicate with both specialist and non-specialist audiences.

Responsibilities

• Support Life Cycle Analysis of New Category products.
• Process data and trend environmental impact analysis across the portfolio.
• Update key performance metrics on circularity.
• Assist design teams with alternative materials for lower carbon initiatives.
