Sustainability Manager - Intermediate/Senior

Location: Hybrid, with easy access to a regional offices (Manchester, Liverpool, Birmingham, or London) and travel to project sites as required.

As a Sustainability Manager, you will play a key role in driving sustainable practices across live construction projects, ensuring compliance with BREEAM, LEED, WELL, and embodied carbon assessments. You will collaborate with design teams, clients, and the supply chain to meet sustainability targets, contribute to bid and tender strategies, and support the development of junior team members. This is an exciting opportunity to shape the future of sustainable construction while working on high-profile projects across the UK.

Key Responsibilities

Project Support

  • Lead and manage sustainability deliverables across live construction projects.
  • Oversee BREEAM, LEED, WELL, and embodied carbon assessments from feasibility to post-occupancy.
  • Engage with design teams, supply chain, and clients to ensure sustainability targets are understood and met.
  • Provide high-quality, tailored sustainability content for PQQs, tenders, and framework submissions.
  • Present at mid and post-tender interviews as required.
  • Collaborate with bid teams to shape project-specific sustainability strategies, demonstrating innovation and alignment with client ambitions.
  • Guide and support junior sustainability team members, fostering technical development and confidence.
  • Deliver internal training workshops on evolving sustainability frameworks, legislation, and best practices.

Innovation & Leadership

  • Identify and implement emerging technologies and methodologies to improve project outcomes.
  • Represent GRAHAM in industry forums, conferences, and stakeholder meetings where appropriate.

About You

Proven experience delivering BREEAM (Accredited Professional status desirable), LEED, WELL (AP status advantageous), and/or embodied carbon assessments on live projects.

Background in construction, sustainability consultancy, or environmental engineering.

Strong communicator with the ability to influence and collaborate across multi-disciplinary teams.

Experience contributing to tender submissions and strategic project planning.

Passion for mentoring and supporting early-career professionals.

Proven experience delivering BREEAM, LEED, WELL, and embodied carbon assessments on live projects. Background in construction, sustainability consultancy, or environmental engineering. Strong communication skills, with the ability to influence and collaborate across multi-disciplinary teams. Experience contributing to tender submissions and strategic project planning. Ability to lead and manage sustainability deliverables across construction projects. Knowledge of sustainability frameworks, legislation, and best practices. Ability to mentor and support junior team members, fostering technical development. Proficiency in sustainability-related software and tools. Willingness to travel to project sites as required.

BREEAM Accredited Professional (AP) status or working towards accreditation. WELL AP certification or experience with WELL Building Standard projects. Experience presenting at mid/post-tender interviews. Knowledge of emerging sustainability technologies and methodologies. Experience representing an organisation in industry forums, conferences, or stakeholder meetings. Ability to develop and deliver internal training workshops on sustainability frameworks. Understanding of circular economy principles and net-zero strategies.
