Qualifications

Job description

Here at the Mick George Group we are currently recruiting a Sustainability Manager to join our SHEQ team.

Location: Mick George Head Office - Huntingdon

Working Hours: Monday – Friday between 8am & 5pm, Saturdays are as required

Pay: To be discussed

Role Purpose

Management and development of the sustainability function to:

  • Achieve and maintain compliance with relevant legislation and ESG reporting requirements
  • Ensure that the business achieves and maintains the necessary sustainability credentials to remove any barriers to winning work
  • Identify cost savings and efficiency through carbon reduction and energy management

Responsibilities:

  • Develop, implement and manage a program for sustainability initiatives and staff awareness
  • Arrange, facilitate and support ongoing collection of data from the business to support our Carbon Net Zero ambition
  • Review sustainability related data, metrics and reports to identify issues and potential opportunities for improvement
  • Develop communications in the business to improve the centralisation of sustainability data in the business
  • Work with marketing and communication team to ensure appropriate, accurate and useful information is available to all stakeholders
  • Work with internal and external stakeholders to support organisations’ sustainability
  • Respond to queries from colleagues, suppliers, customers, investors and other external stakeholders regarding sustainability issues
  • Provide reports to the senior management team to ensure sustainability considerations are integrated into decision-making across the organisation
  • Reviewing suppliers’ approach to sustainability and address any issues identified across the supply chain
  • Maintain CPD through knowledge of the latest trends and developments in sustainability and ensuring the implications for the organisation are understood and communicated ensure leadership teams are fully aware of risks and opportunities associated with current and future sustainability challenges

Key Experience:

  • Experience in the construction, quarrying or waste management industry
  • Good knowledge of carbon management / reduction and energy management
  • Good knowledge and Interpretation of technical documents and legislation to identify applicability to the business
  • Provision of technical sustainability / environmental support and advice in a manner suitable for the end user
  • Preparation of strong, concise presentations and reports
  • Knowledge of sustainable procurement
  • Experience of internal / external auditing
  • Knowledge of ISO9001/14001 and 45001
  • Membership of a professional body (e.g. IEMA)
