Join us as a Sustainability Insights & Research Lead

  • We'll look to you to create and deliver high-quality, actionable insights that integrate environmental and social sustainability considerations into our Group's strategic and commercial decisions
  • We'll look to you to engage key stakeholders and position the bank as a thought leader in how financial institutions can support customers and the economy to be sustainable

What you'll do

In this key role, you'll gather, interpret and direct sustainability insights from external sources to raise awareness of emerging trends and issues to expand the Group's knowledge and aid integration into strategic decisions, plans, such as the climate transition plan, and policies including updates to our environmental, social and ethics policy.

You'll also integrate sustainability considerations into the bank's strategy, planning commercial decisions by tracking and providing updates on real economy policy developments, sectoral transformations, technological and market, and societal dynamics that inform our strategic approach towards strategic initiatives, such as the climate transition plan, nature approach and social issues.

Specifically, you'll:

  • Identify challenges and develop solutions to enable us to support customers to maximise the opportunities and minimise risks in transition
  • Engage with key external stakeholders such as regulators, NGOs, think tanks on sustainability related matters like customer campaigns, NGO dialogues, and government consultations
  • Track and analyse global, regional, and national transition policy developments, regulatory changes, and emerging trends
  • Produce actionable insights and strategic recommendations based on sustainability policy or technology or market analysis to inform internal decision-making and external stakeholder engagement
  • Support internal teams and external partners with timely, relevant, and accurate intelligence on climate, nature policy and market developments
  • Synthesise qualitative and quantitative data from multiple sources to support evidence-based insights
The skills you'll need

To succeed in this role, you'll bring your expertise in sustainability through demonstrating integrated thinking of the interrelations between the economy, society and the environment, policy frameworks, systems thinking and sectoral transitions. Additionally, you'll have a master's degree in Sustainability, Public Policy with specialisation in environmental or social policy, Environmental Science, Economics, Public Affairs, or related disciplines.

Experience in cross-sectoral collaboration, international climate, environmental negotiations, or innovation ecosystems will be advantageous.

You'll also need:

  • Significant experience in climate or nature research, policy analysis, market intelligence, or sustainable strategy
  • A strong ability to analyse and synthesise qualitative and quantitative data
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills for diverse audiences
  • Familiarity with tools for data visualisation and stakeholder mapping
