Sustainability / Environmental Lead - Data Centre Project

Location: Newport, South Wales

£70,000-£80,000 + Benefits (car allowance, pension etc.)

A leading international main contractor is seeking a Sustainability / Environmental Advisor to join their team on a major hyperscale data centre development in Newport. This is a fantastic opportunity to be part of a progressive organisation delivering complex, high-tech projects across the UK and Europe.

The successful candidate will play a key role in driving environmental compliance, sustainability initiatives, and best practices across the lifecycle of the project.

Responsibilities
  • Monitor and ensure compliance with environmental legislation and company standards
  • Conduct site inspections, audits, and risk assessments
  • Support the delivery of sustainability strategies and targets (e.g. BREEAM, circular economy, carbon reduction)
  • Advise site teams on environmental and sustainability matters
  • Prepare environmental reports and maintain project documentation
  • Liaise with clients, local authorities, and third-party stakeholders
  • Promote a culture of continuous environmental improvement on-site
Requirements
  • A degree or equivalent in Environmental Science, Sustainability, or related discipline
  • Prior experience working in a similar advisory role within construction
  • Knowledge of relevant UK environmental legislation and sustainability frameworks
  • Strong communication and organisational skills
  • Previous experience on data centre or high-tech construction projects is highly desirable
