Job summary

Yolk Recruitment Ltd. is seeking an Environmental & Sustainability Engineer in Newport to own and drive the environmental and energy management agenda on a large manufacturing site.

You will lead ISO 14001 and support ISO 50001, ensuring compliance with UK environmental legislation and coordinating with internal teams, contractors and regulators. The role focuses on continuous improvement and building robust environmental standards across the operation.

Qualifications

• Degree in Environmental Science or related engineering discipline.
• Experience in an environmental role within a manufacturing environment.
• Experience with environmental compliance and legislation within manufacturing.

Responsibilities

• Lead and maintain the site's ISO 14001 Environmental Management System.
• Support and maintain the site's ISO 50001 Energy Management System with the Facilities team.
• Manage environmental and sustainability compliance obligations across the manufacturing site.
• Maintain Environmental Permits and licences, including EPR, carbon trading permits and effluent discharge requirements.
• Act as a key point of contact with Natural Resources Wales and other regulatory bodies.
• Ensure compliance with Environmental Permitting Regulations and reporting requirements.
• Oversee environmental aspects of waste management, including hazardous waste collections, documentation and contractors.
• Investigate environmental incidents, identify corrective actions and ensure reporting.
• Develop environmental policies, procedures, documentation and guidance to support legal and best-practice requirements.
• Monitor environmental performance and identify opportunities for continuous improvement and sustainability initiatives.
• Maintain environmental records, certificates, permits and regulatory documentation.
