Sustainability Advisor / Sustainability Coordinator – Construction / Building – Northamptonshire + Hybrid / Remote

Opportunity for a permanent Sustainability Coordinator / Sustainability Consultant to join one of the UK's most successful Tier 1 building & civil engineering main contractors, with a very stable and fast-growing forward order book.

COMPANY: Leading Tier 1 Building main contractor, offering a very low staff turnover, excellent staff care, and a stable workload due to lots of repeat business and negotiated work.

They boast a professional and friendly team environment, good relationships with subcontractors and suppliers, and a balanced company size that offers good career progression opportunities.

They have a close-knit team working on projects including commercial, industrial, student accommodation, and hotels. The company is experiencing organic growth and offers an excellent salary and benefits package, including a car allowance, competitive pension, and biannual bonuses.

Role: As a Sustainability Advisor or Coordinator (seeking candidates at Advisor or Assistant level), your duties will include:

  1. Measuring and recording the company's operational carbon footprint - Scopes 1, 2, and 3.
  2. Coordinating the green supply chain and operational carbon footprint data collection.
  3. Supporting streamlined energy and carbon reporting and energy-saving initiatives.
  4. Reviewing and updating reporting processes and ensuring compliance with DEFRA/BEIS guidelines.
  5. Analyzing data, liaising with internal teams and external suppliers, and ensuring data quality.
  6. Supporting the company's target to achieve carbon neutrality by 2025.
  7. Staying updated with new technologies, innovations, and best practices in sustainability.
  8. Delivering sustainability inductions to new starters.
  9. Providing general sustainability, net zero, and ESG support.
  10. Acting as a sustainability champion within the business.

Location: The role is a mix of Northampton office, site visits, and remote work, requiring flexibility to travel.

Requirements:

  • Previous experience in a similar sustainability role.
  • Genuine passion for sustainability.
  • Understanding of sustainability principles, net zero frameworks, and GHG emission reporting (Scope 1, 2, and 3).
  • Excel Level 3 proficiency and analytical skills.
  • Ability to prioritize workload and meet deadlines.
