An established industry player is seeking a dynamic individual to lead its climate change and sustainability initiatives. Working in a hybrid style, you will work from home and Dundee House, full time, 37 hours per week.
You will have a Degree or equivalent in a relevant subject area and have the ability for continuing professional development.
To lead and co-ordinate Dundee’s carbon, climate and sustainability programmes in line with Council and Government policies. You will be responsible for the development, implementation and review of the Council’s long-term climate change mitigation and sustainable development policies, strategies, and plans, ensuring that the Council is an exemplar in these fields. You will lead the early stage development of potential renewable energy projects, including the preparation of business cases and funding applications. You will promote and raise awareness of carbon, climate, and sustainable development related issues within the Council, its Community Planning partners, and the wider community in Dundee.
You will have an excellent knowledge of climate change policy and practice, a track record that demonstrates innovation and leading partnerships to deliver corporate policy/projects. You will have experience of leading a team, providing advice and support to elected members and other senior contacts, and managing staff and financial resources. You will have working knowledge of Microsoft Packages, including Office 365, Word, and Excel. You must have a high level of communication skills, both written and oral. You will have evidence of delivering detailed presentations to senior representatives from external bodies and the ability to lead multi-disciplinary meetings/groups. You will need to demonstrate strategic and corporate awareness, advocacy and influencing skills, and present ideas and proposals effectively at senior levels. Clear analytical skills, exploration, evaluation, and interpretation of information/opinions, and the ability to engage effectively with a wide range of stakeholders are needed. You will have a commitment to learn and develop and the ability to work outside office times and travel as required.
