What this role is all about:
- Developing an understanding of Sustainability and Climate Change across different dimensions, including regulatory, financial, marketing/PR & messaging, and others
- Engaging with multiple departments such as finance, HR, property, risk, and compliance to support our Net Zero strategy and targets, embedding sustainability into our culture and decision-making, collaborating with partners and suppliers, and promoting sustainable choices through Vitality products and services
- Net Zero project: reducing emissions in operations (Scope 1 and 2) and supply chain (Scope 3), requiring strong numeracy and Excel skills
- Social Impact project: implementing charitable giving strategies to promote healthier choices and support those facing barriers
- Adherence to regulatory requirements related to climate change (e.g., SS3/19, TCFD)
- Keeping up with emerging sustainability initiatives and practices
- Annual ESG reporting, including CDP, TCFD, ESG data, and Sustainability report
- Internal and external communications on sustainability, including internal communications to employees and external updates on the Vitality website
Key Actions:
- Facilitating discussions and ideas within the Sustainability Team
- Willingness to undertake ad hoc tasks in a small team requiring strong engagement across the business
- Supporting ESG reporting and sustainability communications
- Working with external stakeholders in sustainability, climate change, D&I, and CSR
- Regular collation of reporting metrics
- Preparing presentations and papers for meetings and committees
- Producing high-quality PowerPoint presentations with data interpretation
- Creating and preparing management reports and supporting sustainability committee meetings
- Operating at multiple levels, from simple tasks to detailed analysis of operational, HR, and financial topics
- Representing the business externally and maintaining professional relationships
- Identifying and building internal and external relationships
- Managing confidential and strategic information sensitively
Essential Skills needed to fulfil this role:
- Understanding of sustainability and climate change
- Proficiency in IT software: Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Good numeracy skills
