Job description

Suspension Design Engineer
Drive Innovation. Engineer Performance. Shape the Future.

Are you a talented Suspension Design Engineer looking to work on cutting‑edge programmes?

We’re looking for a motivated and technically minded engineer to join the growing team in Thetford. This is an exciting opportunity to play a hands‑on role in the design, development and validation of advanced suspension systems and components for a range of high‑profile programmes.

From initial concept through to production, you’ll help turn innovative ideas into high-performance engineering solutions. You’ll be involved in CAD design, prototype development, physical testing and technical problem‑solving, working alongside a highly skilled team dedicated to engineering excellence.

If you’re passionate about mechanical design, enjoy tackling complex engineering challenges and want to make a real impact, we’d love to hear from you.

The Role

As a Suspension Design Engineer, you’ll take ownership of key design activities, helping deliver innovative, robust and reliable suspension solutions that meet demanding customer and industry requirements.

Key Responsibilities
  • Design & Development: Create and develop suspension components and assemblies using Siemens NX CAD software, from initial concepts through to production‑intent designs.

  • Engineering Documentation: Produce and maintain detailed engineering drawings, bills of materials (BOMs) and design records to the highest standards.

  • Prototype Testing: Plan and conduct physical tests on engineering prototypes, analyse results and use your findings to inform and improve designs.

  • Quality & Compliance: Ensure components and assemblies meet relevant regulatory, industry and customer‑specific requirements.

  • Technical Communication: Present design concepts, engineering solutions and technical reports to internal stakeholders and external customers.

  • Team Collaboration: Work closely with multidisciplinary engineering teams to support programme delivery, solve technical challenges and contribute to continuous improvement and Kaizen activities.

  • Quality & Security: Work in accordance with quality management systems, including IATF 16949 and ISO 9001, while maintaining strict information security and prototype protection standards.

What We’re Looking For

We’re keen to hear from engineers who combine strong technical ability with a practical, hands‑on approach and a passion for delivering high‑quality engineering solutions.

Essential Skills & Experience
  • A degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related discipline, or equivalent project experience in engineering design.

  • Experience in automotive engineering or a closely related industry.

  • Strong working knowledge of 3D CAD software, such as Siemens NX, CATIA or SolidWorks.

  • Good understanding of Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T), ideally in accordance with ASME Y14.5.

  • Knowledge of manufacturing processes relevant to mechanical and suspension components.

  • Familiarity with failure prevention and problem‑solving tools, such as DFMEA, PFMEA and Six Sigma methodologies.

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively within a collaborative engineering team.

  • A valid passport and driving licence, with a willingness to travel when required.

Desirable Skills & Experience

Experience in one or more of the following areas would be a significant advantage:

  • Sealing Systems: Selection, application and design of dynamic sealing solutions.

  • Bearings: Specification and integration of bearing systems within rotating or sliding assemblies.

  • Materials Engineering: Understanding material properties, selection and behaviour under different loads and temperatures.

  • Tribology: Knowledge of friction, wear and lubrication principles and their application in mechanical design.

  • Hydraulics: Understanding hydraulic systems, fluid power components and their application.

  • Electromechanical Systems & Sensors: Familiarity with integrated mechanical, electrical and sensing technologies.

What We Offer
  • Exciting Engineering Programmes: Work on world‑class projects, contributing to innovative and technically challenging solutions.

  • A Talented Team: Collaborate with passionate engineers in a supportive, engineering‑focused environment.

  • Cutting‑Edge Technology: Gain exposure to advanced suspension technologies and a diverse range of customers and applications.

  • Professional Development: Develop your technical expertise and expand your engineering capabilities through continuous learning and practical experience.

  • A Culture of Innovation: Be part of a team that values fresh ideas, continuous improvement and engineering excellence.

Ready to Take the Next Step?

If you’re passionate about engineering design, enjoy solving complex technical challenges and want to contribute to the next generation of suspension technology, we’d love to hear from you.
