Job description

What if your next move gave you more than just another surveying job?

More independence. More influence. The chance to help shape something from the early stages.

We are working exclusively with an established London-based design and construction group launching a new measured building surveying business.

With established clients already in place, ongoing projects and experienced business leaders behind it, the foundations are already in place.

Now they need someone who has the proven ability to conduct building surveys, enjoys being hands‑on and wants to make their mark.

Perhaps you’re currently undertaking measured building surveys, operating laser scanners, and even producing CAD drawings, within an established firm.

You’re good at what you do... you have become more confident and can conduct a survey independently but you’re now ready for something with more progression, professional development runway, more ownership, greater responsibility and the opportunity to have your ideas heard.

That’s exactly who we would like to meet...

The opportunity…

You will become the businesses dedicated surveying professional within a new venture, helping establish its technical capabilities while delivering real projects from day one.

Initially, it’s about doing what you know best… surveying buildings, helping to process the data in order to produce accurate drawings for architects and designers working across retail, hospitality, leisure and commercial interiors.

But unlike a conventional surveying role, you will also have the opportunity to play a part in influencing what equipment is used, workflows and technical standards the business adopts.

You won’t be expected to build this alone, develop a client base, manage a team or run the business. Although, this opportunity comes with a pathway for you to do this eventually.

You will have the backing of an established group of top tier professionals, the independence to take ownership of your work and the opportunity to grow as the operation develops.

What you will be doing…
  • Independently planning and undertaking measured building surveys of existing properties (more interiors based).
  • Operating 3D laser scanning equipment, including Leica, FARO, Trimble or equivalent.
  • Either registering, processing and quality‑checking point‑cloud data or playing a part in the outsourcing of this.
  • Ensure the production of accurate 2D CAD plans, elevations and sections in either AutoCAD or Vectorworks.
  • Managing technical delivery from initial site capture through to completed drawings.
  • Collaborating directly with architects, designers and project teams.
  • Helping develop efficient surveying workflows, equipment choices and quality standards.
Who we’re looking for…

We’re interested in professionals who have the proven ability to conduct a survey, enjoy the technical side of their work and are ready for greater independence.

You might currently be a Measured Building Surveyor, Architectural Professional, Digital Surveyor, Laser Scanning Surveyor, Reality Capture Specialist, Survey Technician or something else entirely.

Your job title and years of experience matter less than what you can deliver.

You will need...

  • Hands‑on measured building surveying and 3D laser scanning experience.
  • Proven experience independently undertaking measured building surveys using 3D laser scanning equipment, with a good understanding of point‑cloud processing and the ability to produce or coordinate accurate CAD deliverables.
  • A good understanding of surveying accuracy and technical quality control.
  • The initiative to take ownership of projects without day‑to‑day technical supervision.

Experience with Revit, Scan‑to‑BIM or emerging surveying technologies would be welcome, but isn’t essential.

We’re not looking for a senior surveyor, director or an established business leader. We’re looking for someone with the technical foundations, initiative and enthusiasm to help something new succeed.

Why make the move?...
Be there from day one
.

Help shape a new surveying operation rather than simply follow established processes.

Make your work count
.

Take ownership of projects and see your survey information used directly by architects and designers.

Enjoy the backing of an established business
.

Existing clients, live projects and commercial support mean you can focus on delivering great work.

Have a voice
.

Bring your ideas about technology, equipment and better ways of working. This firm is open to ideas which help to innovate!

Grow with the business
.

As the operation develops, so could your responsibilities and career.

The details…

Location: London, with regular site visits across London and occasional travel further afield.

Working arrangements: Full‑time, permanent. A combination of site‑based work, office collaboration and flexibility for suitable drawing and processing tasks.

Interested?...

If you’re a hands‑on professional with proven building surveying experience who takes pride in their work but feels ready for something more, this could be your opportunity!

You don’t need to have built a business before.

You just need to know your craft, enjoy taking responsibility and be excited about helping create something new and successful.
