Job summary

Devonport Royal Dockyard in Plymouth seeks an experienced Surveying Engineer to join a defence infrastructure redevelopment project at a Royal Navy site. You will work with site engineers, supervisors, and subcontractors to align survey activities with construction programmes and ensure QA/QC compliance.

The role focuses on laser scanning, as-built surveys, and data management, with CSCS and BPSS clearance eligibility required. Collaboration and precise documentation are essential.

Qualifications

  • Experience in engineering surveying, especially within the Defence & Security sector.
  • Proficiency with surveying equipment, including total stations, GPS/GNSS, and laser scanners.
  • Strong knowledge of survey data processing software such as AutoCAD Civil 3D, Leica Infinity, Leica Cyclone, and Leica 3DR.
  • Understanding of QC1 procedures and quality documentation in a civil engineering context.
  • Excellent attention to detail and problem‑solving skills.
  • Ability to work effectively in a collaborative team environment.
  • CSCS Card and relevant site safety qualifications.
  • BPSS security clearance eligibility.
  • Note: clearance process may take up to 8 weeks.

  • Perform as‑built surveys through laser scanning and modelling of point clouds.

  • Support engineers with setting out activities to ensure consistent approaches to surveying.
  • Prepare survey reports, drawings, and data outputs.

Job description
