Job summary

NatWest Group is seeking a Surveillance Lead in Model Oversight to provide proportionate governance of surveillance models across their lifecycle, from deployment to retirement, ensuring they remain effective and fit for purpose.

You will coordinate performance monitoring, calibration, risk-focused reporting and escalation, collaborating with Model Owners, Internal Audit and Risk to maintain control effectiveness.

Qualifications

• Extensive banking experience with a track record in surveillance, model risk, control assurance, remediation or regulatory compliance.
• Awareness of trade and communication surveillance techniques and industry standards.
• Practical experience of model risk governance, including inventories, lifecycle documentation, issue and finding management, risk acceptance and governance reporting.

Responsibilities

• Provide proportionate oversight of surveillance models across their lifecycle from deployment to retirement.
• Coordinate performance assessment, calibration, and evidence-based reporting with clear escalation of limitations.
• Manage governance reporting, ensuring timely updates to programme forums and awareness within BAU surveillance teams.
• Engage with Independent Model Validation, Internal Audit and Control stakeholders to manage remediation to closure.
• Evaluate the impact of model changes and maintain clear records of decisions, limitations and residual risks.
