Our success means we need to further develop our team of expert ecologists.
A consultant ecologist's role is to balance the objectives of developers with the needs of the environment. SWT Ecology Services advocates for protecting key environmental assets while facilitating development that improves local communities' quality of life. We manage the challenge of reconciling these aspects, viewing each project as an opportunity to achieve optimal outcomes for both parties.
As part of a team of principal and senior ecologists, you will work on diverse projects, including infrastructure, housing developments, and private residences. You will be responsible for delivering projects throughout their lifecycle; liaising with clients, stakeholders, and subject matter experts. You will oversee team and subcontractor delivery, quality, time, and costs, report on milestones, financials, and resourcing. You will lead or manage surveys, prepare technical reports, mitigation licenses, and supervise works.
This is a permanent full-time role, with part-time options considered. We operate a flexible policy to promote work/life balance in an engaging and challenging environment.
The salary will be based on qualifications and experience, with a benefits package including pension contributions, life assurance, employee support, holidays, and flexible working.
Experience in ecological assessments, impact assessments, licenses, and surveys. Demonstrable project management skills from inception to invoicing, client liaison, and report review. Knowledge of legislation and planning policies. Willingness to travel, work in the field, and flexible hours. Ideally, possess a CSCS card, UK driver’s license, and access to transport.
Our team of experienced ecologists operates as a fully owned SWT subsidiary, supporting SWT’s mission to create a living landscape. Opportunities include involvement in SWT activities, webinars, and conferences. Our office is in Pirbright, with remote working possible.
We value diversity and encourage applications from underrepresented backgrounds, including minorities and those with disabilities. We offer accessible recruitment processes. To apply, send a completed application form from our website to Gabbie Graham, MD, with 'Ecologist' in the email subject. The deadline is 12 pm on Thursday, 12 June 2025. Interviews will be conducted remotely initially, then in person the week of 16 June 2025.
