Your role and responsibilities
An exciting opportunity has arisen for an enthusiastic Registered Veterinary Nurse (RVN) to join our Surgical Suite nursing team.
As Surgical RVN, you will work alongside our 6 full-time RVNs, 6 part-time RVNs, 6 dedicated surgical suite Patient Care Assistants, as well as our Specialist Surgeons and Anaesthetists.
The position involves supporting surgical patients from various disciplines, including cardiology, soft tissue, orthopaedic, neurology, ophthalmology, and our primary care service.
Responsibilities include:- Providing high-quality peri-operative care to surgical patients
- Monitoring anaesthesia, including emergency and critically ill patients
- Preparing patients for surgery and scrubbing into procedures, if required
- Undertaking general and theatre nursing, including maintaining and preparing sterile supplies and instruments
- Accurate record keeping
- Infection control
You must be an excellent communicator and have a genuine desire to improve clinical standards. You should also have capabilities in all nursing duties such as anaesthesia monitoring, intravenous catheter placement, drug dosage calculation, handling and administration, blood sampling, and patient recovery.
Previous referral experience is desirable but not essential, as comprehensive training and support will be provided.
Hours
This is a full-time position working an average of 38 hours per week, including a share of weekends (1:6).
Shift times are between 7 am and 9 pm, on a rota.
