Qualifications

Job title: Surgical Nurse

Job Location: Manchester, Bridgewater

Hours: Full time

Salary: starting from £35,000 DOE

Following The Harley Medical Group and sk:n clinics joining Optical Express, the UK and Ireland’s number one private provider of laser eye, premium intraocular lens and cataract surgery, we are recruiting for a Surgical Nurse to join The Harley Medical Group, based in our state of the art Manchester Bridgewater Clinic.

Role purpose:

To lead and manage the Pre-assessment and Post-operative patient pathway for cosmetic patients ultimately ensuring patient safety.

Duties & Responsibilities include but not limited to:

  1. To work as an autonomous practitioner with specialist skills in cosmetic surgery, assessing, planning, implementing and evaluating patient care within policies and protocols.
  2. Supporting the Lead Nurse in clinical aspects.
  3. Demonstrate clinical excellence within the cosmetic outpatient specialty.
  4. To act as the named nurse to clinic cosmetics patients.
  5. To undertake a nursing assessment, obtaining a detailed past medical history, and the management of appropriate clinical investigations, and any other necessary referrals.
  6. Implement intervention based on the results of the assessment and investigations.
  7. Undertake infection prevention and control screening according to infection control policy.
  8. To review patients post-operatively including wound care management.
  9. Assist consultants during clinics and minor op procedures.
  10. Maintain accurate patient records, completing documentation to ensure seamless multidisciplinary communication.
  11. Participate in continuous clinical audit ensuring compliance and an excellent standard of clinical governance.
  12. Management of Patient Safety Incidents with the support of the Manager and Clinical Services Department.
  13. Attend and participate in staff meetings.
  14. Participate in the company Out of Hours service.
  15. To support the wider nursing team when the need arises; travel to other clinics may be required.

Qualifications / Skills & Knowledge / Qualities:

  1. Registered Nurse.
  2. 1 year post-registration experience in a surgical environment essential.
  3. Phlebotomy skills.
  4. Ability to work confidently unsupervised.
  5. Good understanding of CQC and governance compliance activities.
  6. Reasonable IT skills.
