Job summary

One Stop Healthcare in Hemel Hempstead, United Kingdom, is seeking a Surgical First Assistant Scrub Practitioner to join the Theatre team on a Bank basis. The role emphasizes assisting the consultant surgeon, suturing with autonomy, and supporting pre- and post-operative care.

The ideal candidate will be NMC/HCPC registered with a scrub post-registration qualification, an SFA course, and solid theatre scrub and Surgical First Assistant experience, preferably in private healthcare.

Qualifications

• Registered Practitioner with NMC or HCPC with no referrals/restrictions to practice.
• Scrub post-registration qualification.
• SFA Course.
• Current and consolidated experience as a theatre scrub practitioner and willingness to learn/participate in other procedures.
• Current and consolidated experience as a Surgical First Assistant, ideally within a private healthcare setting.
• Evidence of continuing professional development.
• Orthopaedic background.

Responsibilities

• Act as First Assistant to the Consultant Surgeon, with autonomy in suturing.
• Participate and assist in operative procedures and with pre- and post-operative care as required.
• Demonstrate competence level of knowledge within the specialist field and always work within predetermined areas of competence in accordance with the NMC or HPC code of conduct.
• Practice within the limits of OSH policies and guidelines.
• Be expected to maintain a high level of skill and professionalism.
• Work closely with the multidisciplinary team to achieve and maintain an outstanding, patient-focused service.
