Purpose

As a Surgical Equipment Manager, you will be responsible for developing and maintaining a sales territory by promoting BVI’s full capital equipment portfolio to ophthalmic surgeons and other key stakeholders. Your focus will be on building strong relationships, driving sales, and delivering value-based solutions across hospitals, ambulatory surgery centers, and private ophthalmic clinics. The role requires close cross-functional collaboration with internal partners to ensure customer satisfaction and maximize business impact.

Key Responsibilities

Build and maintain strong relationships with customers by identifying unmet needs and offering BVI’s portfolio as a consultative, value-based solution.

Conduct impactful presentations and product demonstrations, both in operating rooms and via digital platforms, to educate and engage stakeholders.

Confidently sell capital equipment and consumables, securing new business and growing existing accounts.

Facilitate surgical evaluations of products, providing support on technique and instrument selection in collaboration with surgeons.

Prospect new accounts through cold calling, clinic visits, and leveraging market insights to meet and exceed sales targets.

Utilize CRM data and field observations to understand market trends, monitor competition, and inform strategic decisions.

Support the installed base by ensuring equipment performance and customer compliance with purchase agreements.

Lead the sales process collaboratively from lead generation to post-sale support, partnering with sales peers, technical service, and clinical application teams.

Provide sales management with key data and metrics to support the development of commercial offers and financing programs.

Work with the Clinical Application team to promote best practices for clinical success and address any issues related to product adoption.

Manage the vitreoretinal (VR) consumables portfolio associated with BVI’s surgical equipment.

Qualification

Experience in capital equipment and/or medical device sales, preferably within ophthalmology or a surgical environment

Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal — able to convey complex sales messages clearly across stakeholders (surgeons, office and surgical staff)

Strong pre-call planning and territory management skills

Proficient in MS Office and experienced with Customer Relationship Management (CRM) software

Able to analyze sales data to make informed decisions on strategy and engagement

Demonstrated ability to resolve complex issues with a high level of initiative

Willingness to travel frequently within the territory

Fluency in English (additional language skills are a plus depending on the region)
