Job summary

Vets Now Referrals Glasgow offers a Discipline-Specific Internship in Surgery starting 5 April 2027. This 12-month training role provides exposure to soft tissue and orthopaedic surgery, close supervision by experienced clinicians, and hands-on involvement in emergency and referral cases to develop primary case responsibility.

You will collaborate with multiple disciplines to enhance surgical case management, pursue postgraduate training, and strengthen your experience in small animal referral

Qualifications

• Recognised veterinary degree and RCVS eligibility.
• UK work eligibility and visa documentation.
• Completed a small animal rotating internship in a multidisciplinary referral hospital.
• Strong communication and English language skills.
• Interest in small animal surgery (soft tissue and orthopaedic).
• High clinical standards, attention to detail and professional integrity.
• Proactive and collaborative attitude with commitment to patient and client care.

Responsibilities

• Participate in the planning, diagnosis, and treatment of surgical cases.
• Work closely with senior clinicians, residents, and the nursing team in patient management.
• Consider animal welfare and ethical principles when planning and undertaking interventions.
• Maintain high clinical standards and accurate medical records.
• Contribute to seminars, journal clubs, case discussions, and local teaching opportunities.
• Engage in clinical research projects and independent study.
• Foster a positive, inclusive, and collaborative working environment.
