Job description

Our client, one of the UK's largest and most successful Surface & Highways Companies, is seeking a Surfacing Site Supervisor to work on a range of surfacing projects including Highways, Retail, Rail, Aviation, Commercial, and Defence.

The Surfacing Site Supervisor will be responsible for implementing and promoting the company's health and safety policies, supervising surfacing works, and assisting the Contracts Manager with the day-to-day management and delivery of projects. The supervisor will ensure that projects adhere to safety, quality, cost control, and schedule requirements to meet client satisfaction. Candidates must have previous experience in a similar role within Highways or surfacing and hold a valid NRSWA and SMSTS Card.

Position Overview

• Manage and ensure compliance with all Health and Safety requirements
• Produce a forward programme for the Contracts Manager, including material, labour, and plant requirements
• Monitor progress of work programmes and advise on adjustments
• Conduct site inspections and safety tours
• Complete necessary reports such as L, P & M Return
• Raise NCRs and provide supporting documentation
• Manage operations to optimize resource use
• Collaborate closely with commercial and QS teams to enhance contract value

Position Requirements

• NVQ Level 3 or 4 in construction supervision (desirable)
• Experience in surfacing and asphalt
• CSCS, SMSTS certifications
• Site measurement experience
• Understanding of CDM regulations and relevant standards
• Experience managing commercial aspects, including costs and value streams
• Good operational procedures knowledge
• Ability to understand programme outputs and plan works accordingly
