Job summary

Breedon Group is seeking a Surfacing Operative to join our outdoor surfacing team. You will help lay and finish asphalt on road projects, work with plant and equipment, and support site preparation and general labouring with a strong emphasis on safety.

Night shifts are required and you will operate across different sites, following site procedures and maintaining high quality and safety standards. Full training and a clear career path are provided.

Responsibilities

• Assist with the laying, raking, levelling and finishing of asphalt materials.
• Support the operation of surfacing plant, tools and equipment.
• Carry out site preparation and general labouring duties before, during and after surfacing works.
• Work closely with the Foreperson and wider surfacing squad to complete projects safely and efficiently.
• Conduct routine checks and basic maintenance of plant, equipment and PPE.
• Follow site instructions, safe systems of work and company procedures at all times.
• Maintain a clean and safe working environment.
• Report any safety concerns, incidents, defects or near misses promptly.
• Work flexibly across different sites and shifts, including night work where required.
