Job description

The UK's trusted Ministry of Defence partner, our client, is looking for an experienced Surface Mount Machine Operator to carry out machine manufacturing and self-certification tasks within the deployed business, following product certification procedures and defined workmanship standards, allocated budgets, and timescales to meet project objectives.

As a Surface Mount Machine Operator, the successful candidate will be tasked with performing machine manufacturing and self-certification activities within the deployed business. This role requires adherence to product certification procedures, defined workmanship standards, and allocated budgets and timescales to achieve project objectives.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Fine soldering under magnification.
  • Surface mount and through-hole component assembly.
  • Contribute to the efficient movement of work and information in the manufacturing area.
  • Adhere in all activities to agreed standards and behaviours.
  • Comply with all health and safety requirements.
  • IPC 610 certified / trained preferred.

Operations of equipment to build circuit card assemblies, including:

  1. DEK screenprint machine.
  2. MyCronic Pick and place machine.
  3. ERSA reflow solder oven.
  4. Koh Young Automated optical inspection.

Role requirements (skills, training, and qualifications):

  • Prior knowledge of circuit card assembly.
  • Read and interpret layouts.
  • Willing to work flexible shift patterns and work independently with minimal supervision.
  • ESD training; PC literate.
  • Hand soldering Circuit Card Assemblies to IPC 610 & 001 and fine soldering under magnification.
  • Surface mount and through-hole component assembly.
  • Undertake detailed standard assembly / manufacturing activities, undertaking all work to requisite procedures, quality standards, safety requirements and timescales.
