Job summary

Prodrive is the world-leading independent motorsport business, seeking a Surface Designer to join the Engineering Vehicle Design group. You will provide advanced surfacing expertise from concept to manufacture and track deployment across high-performance programmes.

The ideal candidate holds a Mechanical Engineering degree and has proven experience in motorsport surfacing, with strong CAD skills (Siemens NX/Teamcenter) and a passion for engineering excellence.

Qualifications

• Degree in Mechanical/Automotive Engineering or related field.
• Experience designing aerodynamic/structural surfaces in motorsport or high-performance engineering.
• Strong CAD skills with NX and Teamcenter advantageous.

Responsibilities

• Design aerodynamic and structural surfaces across the vehicle.

We have an exciting opportunity for a Surface Designer to join our Engineering Vehicle Design group, to provide advanced surfacing expertise across a variety of high-performance motorsport programmes. You will be supporting the design, development and delivery of aerodynamic and structural vehicle surfaces from concept through to manufacture and track deployment.

Key Responsibilities

• Design aerodynamic and structural surfaces across the vehicle.
• Work closely with CFD and Structural Analysts to develop and optimise robust surface models.
• Produce concept designs and detailed engineering solutions that meet performance, weight and cost targets.
• Deliver CAD assemblies and detailed designs to agreed timelines and budgets.
• Release parts and assembly structures onto Bills of Materials.
• Ensure Bills of Materials are accurate, current and maintained throughout the project lifecycle.
• Understand and consider the commercial impact of design decisions on component manufacture and future Bill of Materials costs.
• Support design reviews and continuous improvement activities across programmes.
• Liaison with external suppliers, as well as internal departments and stakeholders to ensure designs are manufacturable, robust and delivered to programme requirements.

Who We Are Looking For…

Our ideal candidate:

• Degree qualified in Mechanical Engineering, Automotive Engineering or a related discipline.
• Experience in a high-performance motorsport design environment.
• Proven expertise creating and developing high-quality aerodynamic and engineering surfaces within a motorsport or high-performance engineering environment.
• A strong understanding of surface development principles and integration requirements
• The ability to work collaboratively across multidisciplinary teams, taking designs from concept through to manufacture.
• Excellent CAD skills, with Siemens NX and Teamcenter experience an advantage.
• The ability to deliver high-quality engineering solutions in a fast-paced, championship-winning environment.
• A passion for motorsport, innovation and engineering excellence, with the ambition to help shape the next generation of World Championship-winning rally and endurance race cars.
