Job summary

An opportunity in London with a leading global insurer to join a tight-knit Surety Underwriting team. The role focuses on underwriting large, complex corporate surety risks across sectors such as construction, infrastructure, manufacturing, defence, renewables, oil & gas, shipbuilding and mining.

Applicants with banking backgrounds (project finance, leveraged finance, corporate credit, loan origination/syndications or structured finance) are encouraged; prior surety/insurance experience is not

Qualifications

• Underwrite large, complex corporate surety risks.
• Background in banking areas (project finance, leveraged finance, corporate credit, loan origination / syndications or structured finance) preferred.
• Previous surety or insurance experience is not required.
• Strong financial analysis and credit assessment skills; client interaction and international exposure.

Responsibilities

• Underwrite and structure large corporate surety risks for a diverse client base.
• Engage with international clients and coordinate with internal teams to assess and manage risk.
• Provide financial analysis and credit assessment to support underwriting decisions.

The role is focused on underwriting large, complex corporate surety risks across a broad range of sectors including construction, infrastructure, manufacturing, defence, renewables, oil & gas, shipbuilding and mining.

They are particularly interested in candidates from banking backgrounds, including project finance, leveraged finance, corporate credit, loan origination / syndications or structured finance. Previous surety or insurance experience is not required.

The role offers strong exposure to financial analysis, credit assessment, client interaction and international business, with the opportunity to develop within a small, experienced team writing sizeable risks across a global portfolio.
