Job description

The Supreme Courts in Edinburgh have two fantastic opportunities to join as Administrative Officers, on a full time permanent basis.

Outline of the role:

Administrative Officers carry out a variety of general administrative duties to progress cases through the court or provide support to other functions within the Scottish Courts and Tribunals Service.

The key responsibilities include:

To undertake a number of general administrative duties including:

Processing and distributing incoming mail to colleagues
Creating and updating records on our in-house computer system and data input

Producing court documents

Preparing files for hearings

General photocopying and filing

Dealing with numerical calculations

Answering queries over the telephone, by email and at the public counter

Accounting for monies in accordance with financial guidelines

Undertaking light portering duties as required

Additionally you:

will have regular contact with court users, including members of the Judiciary and the legal profession. As such, you be required to competently answer queries giving consistent and reliable advice.

will work within a team with regular management support and will be responsible for your own time.

may be required to provide advice to colleagues and carry out limited supervision of others.

will assist in clearing up of courts/hearings by issuing letters and orders as necessary.

process and enter payments onto computer system;

provide excellent customer service.

undertake such duties as may reasonably be requested within the scope of the post.
