Our Explorers Water Safety Education Volunteers in Wigan see thousands of school children each year, helping them stay safe around open water. We are looking for volunteers to help coordinate this essential work, which requires some organization and communication.

If you can spare a few hours each week to respond to school and group requests via email, coordinate volunteer availability, take bookings, and follow up for feedback, we would love to hear from you! This flexible opportunity allows you to volunteer from home with hours to suit your schedule, supporting our important water safety messages.

Volunteering requires regular commitment across the week to ensure prompt communication, but the specific hours are flexible and may be reduced during school holidays.

Why we want you

Our Supporter volunteers handle the day-to-day operations of the waterways, including monitoring activities on the towpath, supporting team operations, managing social media, assisting with filming and location work, and conducting audits within our offices and on the towpath.

  • This role can be performed from home
  • When registering as a volunteer, you will be asked about any unspent convictions, which will be risk assessed accordingly.
