Job Role: Support Worker

The Support Worker will be expected to help and assist the team with day-to-day routines including personal care and feeding.

The Support Worker must have at least 6 months experience in care and demonstrate compassion.

Support Workers help with the daily care of patients in homes, hospitals, or patients' own homes.

Support Workers are vital members of teams in hospitals, homes, and clinics.

Previous experience and/or qualifications in care are essential.

As a Support Worker, you will work under the supervision of nursing staff and other Support Workers.

Your duties may include:

  1. Helping patients wash, shower, or dress
  2. Assisting with eating and serving food
  3. Making and changing beds
  4. Turning bedridden patients to prevent pressure sores
  5. Talking to patients to reduce anxiety
  6. Helping patients move around
  7. Assisting with toileting and collecting bedpans
  8. Maintaining tidy wards or homes
  9. Managing supplies and equipment

Your work may involve using mobility aids and escorting patients between departments. With experience, you may train new healthcare assistants.
