Job description

Job Role: Support Worker

The Support Worker will be expected to help and assist the team with day-to-day routines including personal care and feeding.

The Support Worker must have at least 6 months experience in care and be compassionate.

Support Workers help with the day-to-day care of patients in homes, hospitals, or patients' own homes. They are vital members of teams in hospitals, homes, and clinics.

As a Support Worker, you will work under nursing staff supervision alongside other Support Workers. Your duties may include:

  1. Helping patients with washing, showering, or dressing
  2. Serving food or assisting with eating
  3. Making and changing beds
  4. Turning patients to prevent pressure sores
  5. Talking to patients to reduce anxiety
  6. Assisting patients with mobility
  7. Helping with toileting needs
  8. Maintaining cleanliness of wards or homes
  9. Managing supplies and equipment

Work may involve using mobility aids and escorting patients between departments. With experience, you may participate in induction training for new healthcare assistants.
