Bridges Project is a leading youth work charity that helps young people aged 12-25 in East Lothian and Midlothian overcome challenges and adapt to adulthood. Since 1984, we have helped young people develop their life skills, improve their educational attainment and move into employment or further education. We have a vacancy for a Support Worker (Young Carers) to deliver individually tailored support packages to young people with caring responsibilities.

The successful candidate will:

  • Support young carers and young adult carers in areas such as personal development, wellbeing and employability.
  • Support young carers and young adult carers in achieving a balance between their caring role and being in education or employment.
  • Take the lead on the programme, liaising with key professionals to ensure an effective service across East Lothian.

This is an exciting position in which the successful candidate will take pride in developing a programme of delivery which will provide young carers and young adult carers with bespoke support packages.

It is essential that candidates have a full, clean driving licence and constant use of a car. Membership of the PVG scheme will be an essential requirement of the post. A contributory company pension scheme is offered with a 10% employer contribution.

Employability Support Worker 16+

We have a vacancy for an Employability Support Worker 16+ to deliver an effective casework and group work service to young people aged 16 – 24 in East Lothian experiencing a range of challenges such as non-attendance at school, poor mental health and family poverty which impacts on securing positive destinations.

The successful candidate will:

  • Support young people to gain employability skills, life skills and accreditation; helping them into work, apprenticeships, further education or vocational training.
  • Provide vocational/industry-specific accreditation and training to groups of young people alongside individual support to address particular barriers.
  • Develop a programme of delivery which will provide young people with clear pathways to positive destinations and sustainable and fair work.
  • Take the lead on the service and to provide an effective interface between young people, partners and stakeholders involved in the service.

Digital Information & Social Media Officer

As Digital Information & Social Media Officer, you will support the Digital Information & Social Media Manager in creating engaging and innovative content across our digital platforms. Working closely with young people and content creators, you will develop user-generated content that brings our campaigns to life. You will ensure our website and social media channels remain at the cutting edge, providing high-quality, relevant and timely information that empowers young people from all communities and backgrounds in Scotland to thrive and make the most of their lives.

What you’ll be doing from day-to-day:

  • Delivering accurate, relevant and quality-assured information content for young people in a variety of formats.
  • Storyboarding, planning, recording and editing of video, social and audio content – alongside sometimes featuring in video content.
  • Providing support and guidance to team members and partners around content development.
  • Supporting the production of content by young people and content creators.
  • Researching youth trends and potential new digital channels for communicating with young people.

A great candidate will have a mix of these skills and experiences:

  • Able to think creatively and to communicate creative ideas to others.
  • Experience in creating high-quality and innovative content and campaigns for social media platforms or websites.
  • Experience in analysing data and using insights to inform future projects.
  • Excellent attention to detail and high visual standards when producing creative work.
  • Able to work effectively in a team and on own initiative.

As the successful candidate, you will be required to complete a PVG application before starting the role.

Board Member

MYPAS is a charity that provides free and confidential services for children and young people aged 10-21 years old across Midlothian and East Lothian, currently focusing on the key areas of mental health, substance use harm reduction and LGBT+ support. Demand for these services is high and increasing.

We are currently looking for enthusiastic individuals with Business experience to join our Board to support the governance and strategic leadership of the charity.

We are particularly interested in people who have experience of running a Business or Organisation, with knowledge and experience in the following areas:

  • Business Management & Strategy
  • HR, including recruitment & staff management
  • Experience of employment law, employment policies
  • Financial management, reporting and analysis
  • Budgeting and budgetary control
  • Planning and project management
  • Leadership and change management

Previous experience of being a Board member is not essential as training and mentoring will be available to the successful candidate(s) to develop their skills if necessary.

As a voluntary position, it will not be paid but travel and other expenses for attendance at meetings are reimbursed in line with our policy.
