Job description

Support Worker Waking Night - Park North

Swindon, UK

Job Description

Posted Thursday 6 February 2025 at 00:00

We are currently seeking new team members for our services located in the Park North area of Swindon. At Bembridge House we support eight adults (some with complex needs) with their day to day lives, including a variety of activities, from shopping, travelling around the area, going to cinema, and beyond.

Are you able to support someone throughout the night, ensuring their safety and wellbeing, and giving them the security of knowing there is always someone there for them?

All we need to see is that you share our values and are committed to supporting people to get the most out of life.

As a Waking Night Support Worker, you will be there for the people we support to provide personal care, as required, and assist them if they are up in the night, or maybe just to keep them company while they settle down to sleep. You will perform housekeeping duties and ensure the home is clean and safe and conduct regular checks on the people you are supporting.

The shifts are 10 hours waking nights from 21:30 to 07:30. However, you will initially work on day shifts to complete your induction and training and to build positive relationships with the people we support and get to know the team and the service.

In addition, you will be required now and then to attend meetings and training during the day to enable you to keep in touch with the service as a whole, and to reinforce positive cultures.

Responsibilities:
  • Deliver high-quality care and support to the individuals we support
  • Hourly visual checks
  • Health and Epilepsy observations
  • Night medication count
  • Support with personal care
  • Provide emotional support and companionship
  • Monitor and report any changes in their health or behaviour
  • Some domestic duties
Experience:
  • Previous experience in a care-related role is desirable
  • Knowledge of first aid procedures is advantageous
  • Understanding of patient confidentiality and data protection guidelines
  • Ability to work well within a team and independently

If you are passionate about making a difference in people's lives and possess the necessary skills and experience, we would love to hear from you.

At Milestones Trust we recognise that without the hard work, commitment and passion of our staff, we wouldn’t be the charity that we are today. In return, we are committed to rewarding you with a competitive pay and benefits package including:

  • 30 days annual leave entitlement
  • Company pension scheme, to help grow your retirement pot
  • Learning and development opportunities to help you to build your career, including a comprehensive induction programme, and the opportunity to undertake further qualifications
  • Health Cash Plan on completion of probation giving you access to a minimum of £695 cash back for health treatments e.g. dental, therapies, optical, maternity/paternity, NHS prescriptions etc.
  • Generous Occupational Maternity/Paternity pay
  • Get paid when you want – access your money as you earn it and request your earnings before payday using Dayforce Wallet
  • Access to an Employee Discount Platform from day one, with discounts and cashback for hundreds of retailers
  • An employee referral scheme that allows you to earn money for referring friends and family.

We pride ourselves with being able to offer staff opportunities to develop and progress their careers within the Trust.

For an informal discussion about the job role please contact Tracey Winter or Kate Maggs on 01793 533405 or 01793 618555.

This is an on-going advert and interviews will be held on an ad-hoc basis until sufficient applications have been received.
