What We're Looking For

We're seeking an exceptional Support Worker / Volunteer Coordinator to join our team in supporting Ealing residents who are blind and partially sighted. This rewarding role offers genuine work-life balance with flexible Monday-Friday hours and home-based working.

Essential Requirements:
  • Resident of Ealing borough (or nearby areas) with excellent local knowledge

  • Reliable means of transport to visit service users in their homes independently and safely (travel costs reimbursed at 45p per mile or equivalent)

  • Fluent spoken and written English

  • Strong database management and record-keeping skills

  • Enhanced DBS check (we'll support you through this process)

Desirable Experience:
  • Background in charity sector or visual impairment services

  • Community engagement or volunteer coordination experience

Personal Qualities:
  • Proactive, can-do attitude with excellent problem-solving skills

  • Empathetic and patient approach to working with vulnerable adults

  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills

  • Ability to work independently and manage your own schedule

  • Flexibility for occasional evening and weekend commitments

Your Key Responsibilities

Direct Support Services:

  • Conduct comprehensive needs assessments and develop personalised support plans

  • Provide practical assistance to help service users overcome daily challenges caused by sight loss

  • Empower individuals to maintain independence in their own homes

  • Undertake regular home visits to assess needs and provide ongoing support

Community Engagement:

  • Represent MAB at local events, forums, and community meetings

  • Facilitate and participate in social groups and activities for visually impaired residents

  • Build strong partnerships with local organisations and services

Volunteer Management:

  • Help with volunteer recruitment

  • Match volunteers with service users based on needs and compatibility

  • Coordinate volunteer activities and provide ongoing supervision
