About Us:

Gold Care Homes is a well-established, independent care home group for the elderly, operating nationally. Founded in 1999, we have grown to manage 34 care homes across the South of England. Our services include residential, nursing, frail elderly, and dementia care.

As part of our continued expansion, we are broadening our portfolio to include care services for young people with learning disabilities. We are seeking an experienced and dedicated manager to oversee the operation of our newly established 8-bedded residential care home.

We are now recruiting a Support Worker to join our team and help us make a difference.

Job Summary:

As a Support Worker, you will provide person-centered care and support to individuals with learning disabilities, helping them to achieve their goals and live as independently as possible. This role requires compassion, patience, and a commitment to promoting the dignity and well-being of those you support.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Provide emotional, physical, and social support tailored to the individual needs of service users.
  2. Assist with daily living activities, including personal care, meal preparation, and household tasks.
  3. Encourage and support individuals in participating in community activities, hobbies, and social events.
  4. Work with service users to set and achieve personal goals.
  5. Encourage skill development in areas such as budgeting, cooking, and self-care.
  6. Ensure the safety and well-being of service users at all times.
  7. Administer medication (where required) and follow health care plans.
  8. Respond to emergencies and incidents in a calm and professional manner.
  9. Maintain accurate records of daily activities, incidents, and observations.
  10. Communicate effectively with colleagues, families, and other professionals involved in the care of service users.
  11. Work as part of a team to deliver high-quality care and share best practices.
  12. Attend training and team meetings as required.

Requirements:

  1. Genuine passion for supporting individuals with learning disabilities.
  2. Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  3. Patience, empathy, and a positive attitude.
  4. Ability to work flexibly, including evenings, weekends, and holidays.
  5. Basic literacy and numeracy skills.
  6. Commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of vulnerable adults.

Qualifications and Experience:

  1. NVQ Level 2 or 3 in Health and Social Care (or willingness to work towards it).
  2. Previous experience in a similar role or within the care sector.
  3. Knowledge of person-centered approaches and positive behaviour support.
  4. Understanding of the challenges faced by individuals with learning disabilities.
