Job summary

Royal Mencap Society in Sudbury is seeking a dedicated Support Worker to help people live as independently as possible, with activities like football, cinema visits, arts and crafts, and seaside trips.

You will assist with meals, cleaning, laundry, bills, and personal care, creating a warm, safe environment. Shifts are 7am–10pm with sleep-in shifts (£64.20 per sleep-in) and weekend rota.

Here, you will be supporting people who enjoy a wide range of activities, from watching football and playing pool to visiting the cinema or theatre. They love arts and crafts, spending time with family, and taking the occasional seaside trip during the summer, so no two days ever feel the same.

As a Support Worker, you will play an important role in helping people live as independently as possible. Your day may include preparing meals, assisting with cleaning and laundry/general household tasks, sorting post and going through bills as well as offering support with any other personal care needs. You will help create a warm, safe, and encouraging environment where the people we support can thrive.

Our shift patterns are between 7am and 10pm, so flexibility is essential. The role includes required sleep-in shifts (with a flat rate of £64.20) and weekend work as part of the rota.

Please note: This position does not meet the minimum salary requirements for a Health and Care visa under the UK Skilled Worker route, as set by the Home Office.
