Job summary

Leicestershire County Council's Melton Short Breaks & Supported Living Services is seeking a Support Worker (Female only) to deliver day-to-day care and support to adults with learning differences in Melton Mowbray. The role offers permanent employment with a fixed rota that includes weekends and bank holidays.

Qualifications

• Demonstrate a commitment to providing high quality care and support which maximises independence, is anti-discriminatory, and adheres to relevant regulations and procedures.
• Ability to use equipment to assist with moving and handling service users and to support people with complex needs and willing to attend training courses.
• Effective communication skills, including the ability to engage with service users who may use alternative communication methods (e.g., Makaton, picture boards, signs).
• Good organisational skills and the ability to manage workloads, prioritise tasks, and remain calm under pressure.
• Be responsive to meet the changing needs of a 24/7 service, including flexible hours and weekends/bank holidays.

Responsibilities

• Deliver day-to-day support, providing assistance with personal care, promoting choice and control, and maximising independence.
• Support people with learning differences in our Short Breaks and Supported Living Services.
• Participate in a service rota that includes weekends and bank holidays and be willing to attend meetings or training outside normal hours.
• We provide training and a supportive team to mentor and develop you.
