Support Worker

New Directions

Location: Merseyside

Pay rate: £16.55 per hour

Our client is looking for experienced Support Workers to join the New Directions Services. In this role, you will work as part of a multi-agency team delivering creative interventions for children and young people assessed as suffering harm through exploitation. You will provide intensive, evidence-based interventions for children and young people using a Trusted Adult, Child First, and trauma-informed approach.

This post is exempt from the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act 1974; therefore, you are required to declare any convictions, cautions, reprimands, and final warnings that are not 'protected' as defined by the relevant legislation.

Ideal candidate will have:
  • Relevant social care qualification
  • Flexible and forward-thinking approach
  • Experience working in a Social Services Directorate or other statutory or voluntary agency
  • Commitment to continuous improvement to achieve the best outcomes for individuals and families
  • Excellent mediation and negotiation skills
  • Experience working with a range of client groups within an agency
  • Ability to build meaningful relationships with children and families
  • High-quality service commitment
  • Experience in a multi-disciplinary, interagency environment
  • Knowledge of legislation related to social work practice
  • Medication training
Key responsibilities include:
  • Working closely with Children’s Social Care Teams to provide effective interventions as part of the ETAC (Exploitation Team Around the Child) approach, reducing risks and needs for children and young people.
  • Proactively working with young people and families using various methods underpinned by a Trusted Adult and Reachable Moments principles.
  • Contributing to assessments, care planning, and reviews with a child-centered focus.
  • Assisting with care planning coordination, ensuring plans are current and followed.
  • Producing, monitoring, and reviewing individualised ETAC and risk assessments.
  • Preparing and delivering reports for multi-agency meetings and decision-making forums.
  • Assessing risk and need, and delivering protective/supportive services, reporting appropriately.
  • Practicing inclusively regarding identity and diversity, challenging concerns.
