Reporting to: Person who requires care and spouse

Location: Leeds 16

Hourly Rate: £12.24 (please note the rate shown below is incorrect, i.e., £11.44)

Support hours: 8:30 - 16:30 Monday to Saturday; 8:30 - 14:30 Sunday

DBS check and 2 references required prior to start. Training will be provided.

Job purpose: To assist with tasks supporting a person with a brain injury following a stroke, including personal, social, and domestic support, possibly overnight support.

About the employer: The person is a man in his mid-50s, interested in sports, music, current affairs, dog walking, and outings. He has a brain injury, uses a wheelchair, has aphasia, needs continence support, and is working towards step transferring.

Main duties include social support, personal care (e.g., bathing, dressing, catheter care, medication), physiotherapy support, domestic chores, and assistance with outings and hobbies.

Desired qualities include honesty, reliability, good communication, ability to build trust, flexibility, and understanding of brain injury. Male applicants are preferred but all will be considered.

Skills and qualifications required:

• Essential: driving license, ability to drive wheelchair accessible vehicle, personal care skills, confidentiality, good communication, relationship-building, sense of humor.
• Preferred: interest in football, ability to support gym sessions, dog-loving.

Services provided include meal prep, personal care, domestic care, social activities, and support for independence.

Training includes safeguarding, moving & handling, food hygiene, first aid, and hand hygiene.

Transportation: ability to drive a Motability-equipped car.

Medical: continence care.

Schedule and hours: 54 hours/week with pay rate of £11.44/hour; support hours and schedule detailed in the original description.
